CLLL Middle School Registration:
Important Note: The Middle School registration program is considered a division under the “Seniors” umbrella. The Middle School Registration is open to those who are currently enrolled in Harper Park, Belmont Ridge, Simpson, and Smarts Mill. Registrants must be in 7th or 8th grade and the recommended age requirements are that the player should born between September 1st, 2009 and August 31st, 2011 (Little League Age 13 or 14) The reason for the “Senior” moniker is that is chartered that way under Little League International and follows the rules and guidelines for the Seniors level division. As an example, Middle School players must use a BBCOR bat only.
SAVE THE DATE: Those players who register will attend a MS tryout, tentatively scheduled for February 3rd (indoors), and also on February 10th (10AM-2PM) and February 17th (10AM-2PM) (both of these are outdoors on a turf field). The Middle School coaches will select their rosters and announce their selections near the end of February. Players must attend all tryout sessions.
Those players not selected for their respective Middle School teams will be automatically registered in the Juniors division (see below). They will not be required to attend evaluations by the Juniors coaches (since feedback will be provided from the Middle School tryout)
For those players not selected to a Middle School team, they will be eligible for the CLLL Juniors draft in March. Those players must provide written confirmation to the CLLL Player Agent if they will not play in the Juniors division for the Spring.
In CLLL, players may be dual registered in the Juniors division AND the Middle School division if they chose. A reduced fee will apply to players in both divisions.
Juniors Registration
The Juniors registration program is for those players not attending a Middle School tryout. This is intended for players born between September 1st, 2009 and August 31st, 2011 (Little League Age 13 or 14). CLLL typically has between 3-4 CLLL Juniors teams in the Spring season.
Players may be dual registered in the Juniors division and the Middle School division. A reduced fee will apply to players in both divisions. Players in the Juniors division may also be utilized as call up players in the case Middle School or Seniors teams are in need.
Players in this division will follow the rules and requirements of the Juniors level in accordance with Little League International. For example, players in this division are allowed USA stamped bats in addition to BBCOR.
Seniors Registration
The Seniors registration program is for those players who are born between September 1st 2007 and August 31st 2009 (Little League Age 15 or 16). CLLL typically has between 1-2 CLLL Seniors teams in the Spring season. An evaluation will be determined based on the number of registered Seniors players. (Middle School registrations do not count)
Players in this division will follow the rules and requirements of the Seniors level in accordance with Little League International.
Schedule preparation
- Middle School games are typically on Mondays and Thursdays. Playoffs are based on final regular season record and not all teams qualify for post season play. Teams will play other Middle Schools from Loudoun South, Dulles, Upper Loudoun, and Lower Loudoun Little leagues (in addition to the other CLLL Middle Schools)
- Juniors games are typically on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings/afternoons (10AM or 1PM). All teams will qualify for the Juniors level playoffs which typically begin after Memorial Day and will complete prior to the last day of school, schedule permitting. Teams will travel outside CLLL boundaries and will play teams from LSLL, DLL, ULLL, and LLLL – example locations are Claude Moore Park, Hanson Park, and Brambleton Park.
- Seniors games are typically on Saturdays and are doubleheaders (afternoon). Locations are TBD based on the number of Seniors teams in the Northern Virginia area. CLLL will play teams from outside District 16 and will play teams as far as Alexandria, Fairfax, Dale City, and Dumfries. Due to the longer commute, games in the Seniors division are doubleheaders and only on Saturday. As we have found out over the years, other northern VA little leagues (District 4, District 9, and District 10), local High School players generally play for their own Seniors division to gain additional reps or represent their league. There is not post season play.
- Umpire availability has always caused potential for games to be canceled. Please consider volunteering.
